Insurance is a valuable tool when we need it. Our staff understands how stressful filing an insurance claim can be. At Gantte Insurance Agency, our job is to help if you have an accident or property loss. You will find below, helpful tips to make filing an insurance claim easier and quicker.

Automobile Claims – If you are involved in an automobile accident, first seek medical attention for anyone who may be injured. Afterwards, you can begin gathering information to help with your claim.

You are the best person to tell us what happened. Be prepared to provide as much detail as possible about the accident. This includes where it happened and what took place to cause the accident to occur. This critical information is needed in settling your claim. The more you can tell us about the loss will help us be able to adjust your claim quickly and efficiently.

Homeowners Claims – When it comes to your home, any loss can be devastating. By working together, we can make your recovery from a loss a lot less painful.  A list of all damaged or lost property will help us to quickly adjust your claim. When making this list, please include as much information as possible. Include details such as model number, place of purchase, and amount paid at time of purchase. Receipts, owner manuals, canceled checks, and credit card bills, will be especially helpful.

Fire and Smoke Damage – In the case of damage due to fire and smoke, report your loss as quickly as possible. It is important that you do not attempt to clean any damaged items. Some items may require specific cleaning equipment in order to prevent further damage. We can advise you how to protect your property and review what is covered.

Water Damage – Remove as many of your possessions out of the affected area as possible. Using either a wet-vac or an emergency cleaning service can help in removing any remaining water. If using an emergency cleaning service for this, be sure to save your receipt.

In case of either fire, smoke, or water damage, protect the safety of your family and pets by keeping them out of damaged areas!

If your home is uninhabitable – If you are not able to stay in your home due to damage, keep the receipts for all of your expenses. Your homeowner’s policy will pay for covered expenses that exceed your normal day-to-day cost of living. Your receipts will be helpful in order to determine the amount you should be reimbursed. It is vital that you provide us with a telephone number where you or a family member can be reached, should we need to contact you.

Liability Claim – A Liability Claim is another loss covered by homeowner’s insurance. This type of claim occurs when a person feels they have sustained an injury due to someone else’s negligence. If you believe you or a family member may have caused an injury to someone, or if someone is claiming you caused an injury to occur, begin by making sure that person receives immediate medical attention to his or her injury. You should report this to our office immediately after, with full names, addresses, and phone numbers for all parties involved. It will be important for you to provide us with as much information as possible about how the injury occurred. Be prepared to provide your adjuster with a detailed account of the injury. As with any other incident, the more information you provide us, the better we can serve you.
